
His first store opened in Washington, D.C. in 1979, and soon people were “opening wider” without Larry’s polite requests! His store received wide critical acclaim.
Next Rouse Company, one of the nation’s premier Shopping Center Developers held a contest for thirty-five (35) cookie companies from all over the U.S.A. The winner would be offered a store at Harborplace in Baltimore, Maryland. LARRY’S COOKIES won. This became Larry’s second location. The pride and quiet confidence of recognition was now on track moving ahead.
Soon other locations opened. These include the Charles E. Smith Company’s Crystal City Underground in Arlington, Virginia in 1982; the Center Companies, the Pavilion at the Old Post Office in 1983; Sixth Street Marketplace in Richmond, Virginia developed by Enterprise Development Company (Jim Rouse); and Union Station developed by Williams, Jackson and Ewing.
Today, recognized regionally as a leader, additional locations are being negotiated with some of the nation’s leading Regional Mall Developers.
Quality control is a prime motivation at Larry’s Cookies. Consistency of preparation, shipment of product to over-the-counter sales is all carefully supervised in order to maintain the home-baked taste. This is Larry’s Cookies standard and so it will remain.
